Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14
Throughout the Bible, wells are more than places to draw water. They are places of life, provision, encounter, and promise. In a dry land, a well was a place of survival and refreshment, but it could also become a place where God met people, revealed his faithfulness, and drew them into deeper relationship with him.
The name The Well points to that deeper meaning. It speaks of a place where we come thirsty, make space for God, and receive again from Christ, the source of living water.
The Well is a monthly evening gathering at St John’s, centred on extended worship, prayer, Scripture, and openness to the Holy Spirit.
It is intentionally simple and unhurried. With an unplugged feel and a gentle pace, The Well creates space to worship, pray, listen, and become more attentive to the presence of God.
The heart of The Well is:
Encounter - A space to meet with God in a real and tangible way.
Surrender - A space to allow Jesus to speak, heal, restore, challenge, and lead us.
Transformation - A space where, over time, we hope to see God shaping our lives by the power of the Holy Spirit.
There will be extended sung worship, moments of stillness, prayer, and space to respond to God. Everything is rooted in Scripture and shaped by a desire to be open to the presence and work of the Holy Spirit.
Our prayer is that The Well would be a place of deep spiritual refreshment, where people come as they are, meet with God, and leave more open to the life Jesus offers.
