St John’s is the parish church on Brighton Uni’s Eastbourne campus. We love to welcome students wherever you are on your spiritual journey.
What we do for students
We love students and you’ll be welcomed into the heart of St John’s. Do visit us. Your time at university will be a life-changing experience. We’d love to share it with you and encourage you where we can.
Just occasionally you may want to escape the excitement of student life and essay crises! We have plenty of friendly folk who’d love to give you a home-cooked meal, a comfy sofa to sit on, and a listening ear.
Our vicar says: “Having rediscovered my own faith at 21 after some traumatic student years I know only too well how vital a vibrant and loving church community is for building us up in our faith. At St John’s we want to do all we can to do just that and help everyone discover their true God given destiny. We look forward to sharing that great adventure with you!”
A little more about us
Our mission is to worship God, build his church and love his world. We are known as a welcoming and prayerful community of Christians – a growing Anglican church in Meads, Eastbourne.
People at St John’s come from a cross-section of ages, with a depth of experience, wisdom and understanding. We love to see people grow in confidence and maturity, and to grow closer to God.
Worship at St John’s covers a range of styles from choral evensong and contemplative prayer to family praise and contemporary worship. To check times and dates these are on our website or visit our Facebook page.
St John’s people are active in the local community, supporting the Beachy Head Chaplaincy, running a paperback library, helping the Eastbourne Foodbank, running computer advice mornings and more. If you want an opportunity to serve others in the parish let us know.
