Children & Young People

Children are cherished at St John’s, and there are special activities for them during the 10am service on Sunday mornings. Through our work with children, young people and families we aim to equip and encourage them in their own spiritual journey and for all to be given the opportunity to experience the love God has for each one of us.

BABIES AND TODDLERS

There is an unsupervised area in the Baptistry for parents who want to take their little ones out anytime during the service. Books and toys are provided and there is a TV set up so adults can see and hear the service.

ST JOHN’S JUNIOR CHURCH EXPLORERS (Aged 4-10)

Every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sunday of the month, children from the 10am service meet together in the Jubilee Hall / Pauling Room for action packed praise and worship then join their parents in church for communion or family news time. On the 1st Sunday of every month the children start in church with their families for all age worship before heading off to the hall with the youth. We explore the wonders of God, learn about Jesus and grow in faith through prayer, songs, Bible stories, a short talk, games and craft in line with the day’s theme.

THE LODGERS (Aged 10+)

Every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sunday of the month, young people from the 10am service meet together in the Lodge for games, Bible study, discussion and prayer then join their parents in church for communion. On the 1st Sunday of every month the young people start in church with their families for all age worship before heading off to the hall with the children. On this Sunday they help organise and run the children’s session with the youth leader (Ben West).

As a church, we believe that children and young people are important in the eyes of God, and so we strive to make this statement a reality for each of the children and young people we care for. Watch this video to find out about how we make St John’s a safe place for children and vulnerable adults:
